Electric & Hybrid

Explore the Electric and Hybrid Range

Mild Hybrid (MHEV)

Mild Hybrid vehicles have two sources of power, a conventional engine and a battery driven electric motor. The electric motor does not power the car, it assists it.

Hybrid (HEV)

Hybrid vehciles have two sources of power. They automatically switch between the conventional engine and the electric power engine depending on speed.

Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV)

Plug-in Hybrids have two sources, similar to Hybrid vehicles. The batteries are larger, allowing you to travel further on electric power. The need to be plugged in to charge.

All-Electric (BEV)

All-electric vehicles are powered purely by electricity, they do not have a conventional engine. They need charging before you can drive anywhere and only run off of a battery.

Servicing

Servicing your electric vehicle (EV) is simpler than you might think and in many ways, easier than servicing a petrol or diesel car. Here’s what you need to know:

Electric vehicles (EVs) don’t have an engine, gearbox, clutch, or exhaust system. That means:

  • No oil changes
  • No spark plugs or timing belts to replace
  • No fuel filters to worry about

Fewer components mean fewer things that can wear out, and that often means lower maintenance costs over time.

🔋 Specialist EV Checks

Our Ford Trained Technicians will carry out all the usual safety inspections you’d expect, plus some EV-specific checks, including:

  • Battery health – we’ll check the high-voltage battery’s condition and charging system.
  • Charging system – we’ll inspect the charging port and cables to ensure everything is working safely.
  • Cooling system – EV batteries need to be kept at the right temperature, so we’ll check coolant levels and condition.

🚗 What Still Needs Servicing?

Even though EVs have fewer mechanical parts, they still need routine maintenance on items like:

  • Tyres & brakes – EVs are heavier, so brakes and tyres can wear differently.
  • Suspension & steering components – for a smooth, safe ride.
  • Cabin filters & wipers – to keep your car comfortable and safe.
